National and local government produce an enormous amount of free information on Energy Efficiency, Energy Conservation and just about everything else related to efficiency and it's all available free. Well as most of it is paid from the the climate change levy, that 0.441p per unit that the government kindly takes from each and every business, it's not really free but it is avialable.
For businesses that spend more that about £50,000 on energy, ie gas / electricity / oil combined you are also able to get a "free" energy survey which will highlight 10 points (no more or less) that could help your business reduce it's carbon footprint. Many of these tips are common sense, turn down the heating, use low energy lighting and turn things off when your not using them.
In our experience, companies contacting the Carbon Trust (a government-funded independent company) for a survey will be contacted shortly after by other organisations offering to offset thier carbon footprint. Officially the Carbon Trust doesn't share your information with anyone, but unless you have a specialist requirement, I don't recommend the survey - everything that you'll be told in on the website anyway.
